4。5 starsI'm sad that the Noughts and Crosses stories have finally come to an end, because it is probably my favourite book series ever。 I still stand by the first book being unbeatable, but the entire series has been incredible and told so well it was as though it was happening before me。Having said that, when I read Crossfire, I was a bit disappointed, as well as confused。 I hoped that this final book, Endgame, would clear everything up and bring back the feeling of the previous books, and tha 4。5 starsI'm sad that the Noughts and Crosses stories have finally come to an end, because it is probably my favourite book series ever。 I still stand by the first book being unbeatable, but the entire series has been incredible and told so well it was as though it was happening before me。Having said that, when I read Crossfire, I was a bit disappointed, as well as confused。 I hoped that this final book, Endgame, would clear everything up and bring back the feeling of the previous books, and thankfully, it did。 The writing was brilliant - Malorie Blackman is honestly such a talented writer, all of the books are filled with such wit as well as heartache。 I was swept in straightaway by Endgame, scarcely able to put it down。 It was packed with suspense and action - you could hardly catch a break whilst reading。 Whilst reading I had my suspicions about the ending, and none of them turned out correct apart from (view spoiler)[ Callie and Tobey finally getting together! I'm so glad they did because they were such a lovely couple in Double Cross and it's obvious they were meant to be together。 My only qualm was something Callie said to Troy about how she only married him because her mum told her to save him? This implied she didn't really love him, and deep down she was constructing a plan which we didn't get to see。 Maybe I read it wrong, but I hope that isn't the case。 (hide spoiler)]In my Crossfire review I said how I didn't really like Troy and Libby as I felt their characters weren't really written well: I think they improved a lot in this book and I didn't feel annoyed at all whilst reading their chapters - actually, I think the character development for everyone was done really nicely。So without me jabbering on any longer, if you're a fan of the Noughts and Crosses series, I suggest you read Crossfire and Endgame (Endgame follows directly on from Crossfire)。 Though quite different in matter compared to Noughts and Crosses, the main principle is still there and the writing is as good as ever。Recommended for: ages 13+。 Violence, death, swearing。 。。。more

The Noughts and Crosses series is my favourite book series of all time。 Following the lives of Sephy and Callum, these books take on some serious topics。 Don't worry, no spoilers! The key topic being racism。 Although not the key aspect of the books, the insight into a ruined world that actually isn't too far off of ours is inspiring。 It feels encouraging to learn and focus on change and what the world could be like。 These books have given me role models, characters and qualities I value。 Whilst The Noughts and Crosses series is my favourite book series of all time。 Following the lives of Sephy and Callum, these books take on some serious topics。 Don't worry, no spoilers! I highly recommend this book, and I am so grateful for this series。 Thanks for reading my review! :) 。。。more

I read Endgame in under 24 hours, normally I'd say that means the book is fantastic but in this case I was just desperately looking to for a resolution to the story I started back when I was 13。 Endgame did that but not in quite the same spectacular fashion of the earlier books and unfortunately I feel they have slowly lost their sparkle through the series。 That doesn't mean it's not worth reading particularly with the cliffhanger ending of Crossfire and really I think the last two books should I read Endgame in under 24 hours, normally I'd say that means the book is fantastic but in this case I was just desperately looking to for a resolution to the story I started back when I was 13。 Endgame did that but not in quite the same spectacular fashion of the earlier books and unfortunately I feel they have slowly lost their sparkle through the series。 That doesn't mean it's not worth reading particularly with the cliffhanger ending of Crossfire and really I think the last two books should have been together really although admittedly it'd would have been rather long。 The political angle of Endgame is hard hitting particularly with the references to current events although doesn't really link into the story which is a shame。 Unfortunately nothing is going to match the ending of Noughts and Crosses which will stay with me forever。 。。。more

I started this series when i was a young teen and stole my older brothers copy of noughts and crosses。 From then i was in love with it。 And now as a young 22 year old i still love it。 This book was the perfect way to end a perfect series。 Made me smile, made me laugh and even made me cry。 Will always be my one of my favourite series。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 What an ending。 Twenty years of writing and thirty years of narrative culminate into this one final book。 I'd like to think sephy was finally at peace with Callum and the rest of the family shared success and happy lives。 Easily the quickest read for a book this size and I doubt that record would be broken any time soon What an ending。 Twenty years of writing and thirty years of narrative culminate into this one final book。 I'd like to think sephy was finally at peace with Callum and the rest of the family shared success and happy lives。 Easily the quickest read for a book this size and I doubt that record would be broken any time soon 。。。more

When I was a teenager voraciously reading anything I could get my hands on, I came across a beautiful novel about a doomed relationship between Callum and Sephy, race relations turned on their head in a world putting up a mirror to our own prejudices。 Blackman's 'Noughts and Crosses' was a formative book for me and has remained so for my own students to this day。 I can hardly believe it is now twenty years and five more books later - Blackman's final delve into her parallel world with the sixth When I was a teenager voraciously reading anything I could get my hands on, I came across a beautiful novel about a doomed relationship between Callum and Sephy, race relations turned on their head in a world putting up a mirror to our own prejudices。 Blackman's 'Noughts and Crosses' was a formative book for me and has remained so for my own students to this day。 I can hardly believe it is now twenty years and five more books later - Blackman's final delve into her parallel world with the sixth book in the series 'Endgame'。 But does it live up to the beauty of the early books? The answer is mostly。 I still find the world and the power dynamics in this novel fascinating。 Blackman cleverly brings this universe right up to date by taking contemporary news stories, such as films using 'poverty porn', a lack of uptake for vaccinations in the "WAME" community (we are in a backwards world here remember), and the war on drugs。 Her viewpoints shine through and are a welcome addition to those speaking out on racial inequality。However, the news articles and the main storyline of this novel do not gel。 We resume as Troy and Libby have failed to escape their kidnappers; Sephy, Callie-Rose and Tobey get drawn into a web of blackmail, desperately trying to save their loved ones but up against violent people with links to organised crime。 The story is fully engaging and tension is ramped up through frequent cliffhangers and illuminating moments of flashback to a fateful dinner party。 Despite this, Tobey now being prime minister seems to be the only link to the sporadic news articles and issues of race take a backseat to larger themes of power, corruption and family relationships。 The articles felt just a little shoehorned (sometimes to create some tension at the worst possible moments!) and could have been woven more pertinently to reflect the main plot。Overall, this is a fitting and thrilling end to the series (including excellent homage to Callum from the first novel)。 Despite the lack of gel between the two ideas (the articles and the main plot), Blackman remains one of the best writers of young adult literature out there。 I will miss reading books with these characters。 4 stars。Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher who provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more
